Breakout Tried out HGE, a free 2D graphics library, by making a breakout game, which I suspect 9 out of 10 CS graduates have done. Didn't turn out too badly, maybe next time I'll make something that's actually original and good. Looking around at the shareware sites it seems that everyone on the planet has made a breakout clone. | | Tuesday, September 27th, 2005 | | 8:22 am |

The Politics Post
Everyone seems to have a political post. Rather than respond, I thought I'd just give my own thoughts, on what this means, and why we lost. ( Too much politics )I think if we want the Democrats to win in 2008, we need to start making positions clear, and start doing positive things that can be pointed to in the next election, and that will attract borderline voters. It's not enough to make people hate the other guy, you've got to make them admire you. | | Sunday, October 10th, 2004 | | 5:23 pm |
Thanks!
The background check paperwork, it is done! A big thanks to everyone (lilinthra, grysar, and Adam) who gave me their info for my backgound check. I really appreciate it. Couldn't believe the amount of stuff they wanted. Oh well, at least I've only lived in this country. Our IT guy had to hunt up people who knew him when he lived in Bolivia. | | Thursday, October 7th, 2004 | | 11:53 am |
Help!
Well, is seems that I have to fill out yet more paperwork for my background check. Amongst the things needed are the full name, address, and phone number of people who knew me at my previous addresses (I lived in two apartments in Ellicott, then at Berwynn House just off campus), and people who just know me at all. I'd really appreciate it if some of you could email that stuff to me at rjgoodman at gmail.com. You probably won't be contacted, as this is just a sensitive info clearance, not a classified, and since it's the Federal government, you won't be spammed or anything. Thanks! | | Thursday, June 10th, 2004 | | 6:59 pm |
Day off!
Apparently, since our company works closely with the government, and follows government holidays, I get tomorrow off. Cool. Kinda sorry Reagan's dead though. I didn't really like a lot of his politics, but he kinda seemed to be a part of my 80's childhood. Like the Transformers. Only unable to turn into a cool vehicle. I think. Job's going pretty well, and the work's stuff I like, doing some asp.net stuff, some Oracle. Interesting stuff, IMHO. Commute's nice, It's entirely through the metro, no traffic or car necessary. And I get my own office! With a door, no less. Seems a pretty relaxed place to work too. All in all, the transition to the Big and Scary Real World is going pretty well, albeit hectically. | | Thursday, April 8th, 2004 | | 11:51 am |
Just outside Cobb's Knob, you encounter an adolescent Knob Goblin waving a paintbrush around. "Look at me," he shouts. "I'm an artist! I don't have a real job! I only listen to bands you've never heard of!" Knowing better, you lay the smack down and take the brush, determined to return it to its rightful owner. You acquire an item: Pretentious Paintbrush Kingdom of Loathing is officially the greatest RPG of all time. Oh, and I can't wait to find the ferocious Sabre-Toothed Lime. Or the Ninja Snowmen. | | Wednesday, March 3rd, 2004 | | 1:31 pm |

Since everyone else seems to be doing it...

Creepy...
Wow, some guy was planning on going on a shooting rampage through AV Williams... And to think we all laughed when Nelson joked about "code rage" Current Mood: determined | | Friday, September 26th, 2003 | | 9:43 am |

Arrr, the timbers weren't even shivered!
Ahoy, mateys and landlubbers, today be talk like a Pirate day, which is why I be using yon scurvy piratical dialect! Ok, that's enough of that :) I was mildly disapointed in the Hurricane. In the part of town I live in, there really wasn't much to see. Only one tree toppled, and no services knocked out. Which is good, of course, but I'd hoped for some dramatic lighting, wind, etc. My parents, on the other hand, weren't as lucky as me, and ended up with no water or power. They still remembered to say "Arrr" when i called them, presumably in honor of Pirate day. Or in honor of the awful weather. Whichever. | | Wednesday, July 23rd, 2003 | | 9:52 am |
Free Money, Forsooth!
Wow, I got my Bush Tax Refund (TM) in the mail. Which is interesting, since I didn't actually make enough money to pay taxes in the first place. Oh well, go Republicans. Hurrah for the, um, stodgy and gray... Any ideas on how I should waste my money (or support the economy, to put it in Bushite terms)? | | Monday, June 23rd, 2003 | | 2:07 pm |
This must be what Snape plays on on his lunch hour :) | | 9:15 am |
People have been talking on the news about long lines to get OoTP.... But I just walked into a bookstore saturday morning, and got it for 50% off with no real line... Has this happened to anyone else, or am I just really friggin' lucky? | | Saturday, May 31st, 2003 | | 9:25 am |
Here, the Cheat, have another trophy.
Well, classes are finished, grades have been given, and I have once more proved that I rock :) Projects turned out pretty good, here are the links for all and sundry to see. Procedural TexturesA simple game (done in only 2 weeks!) I didn't have time to make these projects as complex as I wanted, maybe I'll add to them now. Or just collapse in a heap. That'll work. In other less geeky news, went to Reene's party, which was lots o' fun, and caused me to spend the ride home thinking of ways to make boobie-themed food : | | Sunday, May 4th, 2003 | | 11:13 pm |
